The
Sycamores

Listening Skills Program One of the really great trends over the last two decades is the increasing ease with which musicians can self-produce discs. Don't misunderstand - there's still a place for good producers, quality studios and even, gasp, marketing. But when I was 17 it would've been nearly impossible to pick up an album's worth of material from a low-key outfit like The Sycamores. This particular disc stands out as arguably Frank Randall & company's most ambitious effort, thanks largely to Mike Wisti's production. To me, it's just cool that guys I know could make a record like this in the basement. |
